Limbo-The Dance
Looking out there in the streets
at what looks like a mirage appears to be someone dancing all by themselves-having
a good time. What are they doing? One might ask! It looks like “The Limbo”. The upbeat sound of the music
can be heard from the distance and the revelry of those in the crowd, cheering
the dancer on, is contagiously engaging. The horizontal bar is positioned in the middle
as two bystanders are holding it in place while the dancer makes his way under
the horizontal bar: in a motion of bending over backwards from the knees,
shuffling step by step like a certain kind of dance while going under that lowered
bar. Each time the dancer takes their turn, the horizontal bar is lowered
closer and closer to the ground. Now the dancer has to be careful, because if
they lean too far back, they could fall and be disqualified from the dance!
As you’ve read this short story
of Limbo-The Dance, all seems well
and all is fine. Those involved are having much fun. Nothing to be concerned
about, just people having a good ole’ time!
Recently, I had been listening to
a message by a woman of the gospel, Apostle Kimberly Daniels, a woman to which
I have to give credit where credit is due, for ministering on the subject, The Spirit of Limbo that has caused me
to delve more in my study time, about the word Limbo. After listening to her message for a season and now recently
blowing the dust off the CD; my ears and understanding have seemed to open up
even more—that now, I am hearing the message in a different kind of way.
Let me briefly explain what I’m
talking about! The definition of the word Limbo:
¹A dance originated from the West Indies in
which the dancer bends backward, from the knees and moves with a shuffling step
under a horizontal bar (on occasion, a fire is lit on that bar), that is
lowered after each successive pass, to a position just above the ground. ² In
Roman Catholic Theology, it’s a region on the border of hell or heaven. It’s a
place or state of oblivion to which a person is forgotten, cast aside, stuck,
in a transitional or mid-way state or place; a place of imprisonment or
confinement. It’s a place where you feel stuck, an uncertain period of awaiting
a decision or a resolution; an intermediate state or condition. It’s a place
between “Here” and “There”!
As you begin to navigate through
the courses of life, trying to move forward but somehow you can’t seem to go-not
because you don’t want to but because you can’t seem to get a grip on what
you’re reaching for. There’s an invisible “something” holding you back or
holding back what belongs to you. You don’t quite see the light that’s trying
to penetrate into the caves tunnel and yet you’re not totally out of the dark
either. Well, you may be thinking, “If I or my stuff can be held up, then what
about answers to my prayers?” Can they be held up also? The answer to that
question is, “Yes!” Your answer to your prayers can be held in abeyance. You
may be wondering, what’s going on? Well
I’m here to tell you it’s an enemy behind the scene called the Spirit of Limbo!
It’s a tug-of-war-kind-of thing; like dancing with the enemy: and all of
his cohorts are having an arousal kind of time, un-be-known to you and
especially at your expense. As you’re struggling, trying to “raise the bar” and
step up ahead in life you’re beginning to bend in a backwards-shuffle-walking type
of motion to go under a horizontal bar (to which you’re not walking forward in
full motion, but walking forward while bending in a backward motion). Something
is wrong here!
You know, the Prophet Daniel was
in that place. Daniel chapter 10 (kjv). Daniel spent 21 days praying, fasting, and
mourning waiting for answers from the Lord, but his answer, from the Lord, was
held up and by whom? The Prince of Persia ! In Daniel 10:12-14 it says,
12: Then said he (the angel of the Lord)
unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the
first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself
before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13: But
the prince of the kingdom
of Persia withstood me
one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael,
one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings
of Persia .
14: Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people
in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.
There are times that answers to
our prayers are held up due to our disobedience, rebellion, un-forgiveness, or
stubbornness to man or God. But this was not the case for Daniel! He was a
righteous man, seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting; his prayers were held up
and because of what/why? Because Daniel was a high ranking Prophet, he had
access to the king and God’s people. The enemy knew that once he got a hold to
the answers, coming from the Lord, Heavens Throne into the Earth realm, Daniel would
reveal the plans and purposes of God, to help the children of Israel get out of
bondage and let them know what was about to befall them!
Now that you’ve caught a glimpse
into the supernatural realm, by reading this article of what could be the
possible hold up of decisions that need to be made and answers to your prayers,
and who it is that you’re unknowingly “dancing” with; I endeavor to encourage
you to keep praying, keep fasting, don’t give up, don’t back down, keep pressing
in, because your prayers were and are heard-on the first day you made your
petitions known to God. Man or Woman of God, your answer is on the way! Your
heavenly father is on your side, sending reinforcements to help you get the
breakthrough you desire and the breakthrough you need!
In my next Embrace Blog, I will
talk more about the word Limbo and
share a real testimony about how someone’s prayers were held up and how they
received a breakthrough in their finances and job because of the Spirit of Limbo was dealt with. I’ll also
share some strategies on how to accelerate the process of getting your prayers
answered and getting into alignment with the Lord as you move forward into your
Destiny!
