Wisdom Speaks!

Today is February 1, 2017,

As a well taught believer, we’re prone to follow the pattern and read a Proverb a day. As I got up this morning my objective was probably like most of you, coupled with prayer, in reading, from the bible Proverbs Chapter 1. However the Holy Spirit had been waiting on me so that He could breathe on what I was reading and remove the dust from my eyes and understanding as He also blew away the spiritual cotton balls from my ears which would have kept me from hearing Him. Once again, the Spirit of Wisdom is opening her mouth and shouting from the roof top in order to get our attention. This is the wisdom-mind-thought-insight-experience-knowing, from Sovereign God given to Solomon, king of Israel and others, for our benefit, betterment, and blessing; and yet, we still do not take heed!  As you shall read the chapter below and hopefully internalize it, it shall bring some form of conviction to you, as it was for me reading it once again. Our Heavenly Father wants to help us so much however we must participate in His way of life for us to win. Unfortunately, most of us are losing out and have become blind to His way and proud of it! We think that we're getting away with much and when we look back, we'll notice that there were holes in our bags to which all of our stuff has leaked out.  Wisdom is calling out, can’t you hear her voice? She’s running towards you in the streets, have you turned your back on her? She’s knocking on the door of your heart-will you let her in?

I included Proverbs Chapter 1 (below) from the New Living Translation without all of the verse numbers so that you could read this like it was a letter addressed to you-from Solomon, the king of Israel.

Put on your spiritual glasses-enjoy, internalize, and take heed to these words of wisdom!

The Purpose of Proverbs

These are the proverbs of Solomon, David’s son, king of Israel. Their purpose is to teach people wisdom and discipline, to help them understand the insights of the wise. Their purpose is to teach people to live disciplined and successful lives, to help them do what is right, just and fair. These proverbs will give insight to the simple, knowledge and discernment to the young. Let the wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. Let those with understanding receive guidance by exploring the meaning in these proverbs and parables, the words of the wise and their riddles.

“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”

A Father’s Exhortation: Acquire Wisdom

My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s instruction. What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain of honor around your neck. My child, if sinners entice you, turn your back on them! They may say, “Come and join us. Let’s hide and kill someone! Just for fun, let’s ambush the innocent! Let’s swallow them alive, like the grave; let’s swallow them whole, like those who go down to the pit of death. Think of the great things we’ll get! We’ll fill our houses with all the stuff we take. Come, throw in your lot with us; we’ll all share the loot.” My child, don’t go along with them! Stay far away from their paths. They rush to commit evil deeds. They hurry to commit murder. If a bird sees a trap being set, it knows to stay away. But these people set an ambush for themselves; they are trying to get themselves killed. Such is the fate of all who are greedy for money; it robs them of life.

Wisdom Shouts in the Streets

Wisdom shouts in the streets. She cries out in the public square. She calls to the crowds along the main street, to those gathered in front of the city gate: “How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded? How long will you mockers relish your mocking? How long will you fools hate knowledge? Come and listen to my counsel. I’ll share my heart with you and make you wise. I called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention. You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered. So I will laugh when you are in trouble! I will mock you when disaster overtakes you—when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster engulfs you like a cyclone, and anguish and distress overwhelm you. When they cry for help, I will not answer. Though they anxiously search for me, they will not find me. For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the Lord. They rejected my advice and paid no attention when I corrected them. Therefore, they must eat the bitter fruit of living their own way, choking on their own schemes. For simpletons turn away from me—to death. Fools are destroyed by their own complacency. But all who listen to me will live in peace, untroubled by fear of harm.”

Limbo-The Dance

Looking out there in the streets at what looks like a mirage appears to be someone dancing all by themselves-having a good time. What are they doing? One might ask! It looks like “The Limbo”. The upbeat sound of the music can be heard from the distance and the revelry of those in the crowd, cheering the dancer on, is contagiously engaging.  The horizontal bar is positioned in the middle as two bystanders are holding it in place while the dancer makes his way under the horizontal bar: in a motion of bending over backwards from the knees, shuffling step by step like a certain kind of dance while going under that lowered bar. Each time the dancer takes their turn, the horizontal bar is lowered closer and closer to the ground. Now the dancer has to be careful, because if they lean too far back, they could fall and be disqualified from the dance!

As you’ve read this short story of Limbo-The Dance, all seems well and all is fine. Those involved are having much fun. Nothing to be concerned about, just people having a good ole’ time!

Recently, I had been listening to a message by a woman of the gospel, Apostle Kimberly Daniels, a woman to which I have to give credit where credit is due, for ministering on the subject, The Spirit of Limbo that has caused me to delve more in my study time, about the word Limbo. After listening to her message for a season and now recently blowing the dust off the CD; my ears and understanding have seemed to open up even more—that now, I am hearing the message in a different kind of way.

Let me briefly explain what I’m talking about! The definition of the word Limbo: ¹A dance originated from the West Indies in which the dancer bends backward, from the knees and moves with a shuffling step under a horizontal bar (on occasion, a fire is lit on that bar), that is lowered after each successive pass, to a position just above the ground. ² In Roman Catholic Theology, it’s a region on the border of hell or heaven. It’s a place or state of oblivion to which a person is forgotten, cast aside, stuck, in a transitional or mid-way state or place; a place of imprisonment or confinement. It’s a place where you feel stuck, an uncertain period of awaiting a decision or a resolution; an intermediate state or condition. It’s a place between “Here” and “There”!

As you begin to navigate through the courses of life, trying to move forward but somehow you can’t seem to go-not because you don’t want to but because you can’t seem to get a grip on what you’re reaching for. There’s an invisible “something” holding you back or holding back what belongs to you. You don’t quite see the light that’s trying to penetrate into the caves tunnel and yet you’re not totally out of the dark either. Well, you may be thinking, “If I or my stuff can be held up, then what about answers to my prayers?” Can they be held up also? The answer to that question is, “Yes!” Your answer to your prayers can be held in abeyance. You may be wondering, what’s going on?  Well I’m here to tell you it’s an enemy behind the scene called the Spirit of Limbo!

It’s a tug-of-war-kind-of thing; like dancing with the enemy: and all of his cohorts are having an arousal kind of time, un-be-known to you and especially at your expense. As you’re struggling, trying to “raise the bar” and step up ahead in life you’re beginning to bend in a backwards-shuffle-walking type of motion to go under a horizontal bar (to which you’re not walking forward in full motion, but walking forward while bending in a backward motion). Something is wrong here!

You know, the Prophet Daniel was in that place. Daniel chapter 10 (kjv). Daniel spent 21 days praying, fasting, and mourning waiting for answers from the Lord, but his answer, from the Lord, was held up and by whom? The Prince of Persia! In Daniel 10:12-14 it says, 12: Then said he (the angel of the Lord) unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words. 13: But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia. 14: Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.

There are times that answers to our prayers are held up due to our disobedience, rebellion, un-forgiveness, or stubbornness to man or God. But this was not the case for Daniel! He was a righteous man, seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting; his prayers were held up and because of what/why? Because Daniel was a high ranking Prophet, he had access to the king and God’s people. The enemy knew that once he got a hold to the answers, coming from the Lord, Heavens Throne into the Earth realm, Daniel would reveal the plans and purposes of God, to help the children of Israel get out of bondage and let them know what was about to befall them!

Now that you’ve caught a glimpse into the supernatural realm, by reading this article of what could be the possible hold up of decisions that need to be made and answers to your prayers, and who it is that you’re unknowingly “dancing” with; I endeavor to encourage you to keep praying, keep fasting, don’t give up, don’t back down, keep pressing in, because your prayers were and are heard-on the first day you made your petitions known to God. Man or Woman of God, your answer is on the way! Your heavenly father is on your side, sending reinforcements to help you get the breakthrough you desire and the breakthrough you need!

In my next Embrace Blog, I will talk more about the word Limbo and share a real testimony about how someone’s prayers were held up and how they received a breakthrough in their finances and job because of the Spirit of Limbo was dealt with. I’ll also share some strategies on how to accelerate the process of getting your prayers answered and getting into alignment with the Lord as you move forward into your Destiny!

Celebrating My Mom

MOM, I Celebrate You!

I celebrate my mother this mother’s day-weekend, not only this weekend but everyday!  As I am writing, I began to reflect back on what my mother has accomplished and what she had to give up and let go.  I reflect on stories of hardship and struggles and I joyfully reflect on her laughter, her singing and her funny dances when she got all tickled inside, while making her children laugh. My MOM, a daughter, a student, a worker, a mother, a disciplinarian, a teacher, an educator, a learner, an entrepreneur, a warrior, a helper, a giver, a lover, a believer, a supporter, a no-non-sense woman, a lady, one who encourages, a beautiful woman, a Proverbs 31 woman, the first apostle-prophet-evangelist-pastor-teacher God has given my family; and yes, she is a Woman With A Mandate!

A Woman with a Mandate!  She was given a charge, a command, an order, with authority from the Royal Throne Room of Heaven to raise her children, establish her territory, to establish laws and decrees in her household to set order.  Her assignment came from God!  Her anointing came from God!  Her mantle came from God, and YES, her charge came from God!  Her mantle didn't come with all pink and red roses or gold trims with shinny beads attached to it.  No!  In the beginning it may have started out bright and white, unblemished and stained free:  it certainly didn't come with the entire instruction manual on how to raise children sewn in the seams.  The mantle she carries has some wear-n-tear in it, some spots and wrinkles on it and even some tears of joy and sorrow on the cuffs and maybe up the sleeves from the many nights she prayed her family through the storms of life all the while she was trying to start her own business . Her mantle even has blood stains that cascade to the bottom of the hem as she was in the trenches, because of the battle with the enemy, she would not relent.  God would bring her out and clean her off and smile at her because she gave the devil a black eye.

My mother, Priscilla Embry's quiver was full, with 6 children born and raised in Detroit, MI: Tandy, Willie, Clyde and Claudette-Twins (a.k.a. Bonnie and Clyde), Karen and Kevin-Twins (Kevin home with the Lord).  We all laugh when we think about how our friends would come to our home, when we were small children, asking if my mother could come out and play-you see, she was well known and the life of the block! One funny incident I recall was when she was getting in our cases for not putting things up where they belong: and out of her frustration, with her eyes squinting in an angry face, she began to yell at us and said, “How many times I have to tell y’all to put the comb & brush in the refrigerator!”  We all looked at our mother liked, “huh!”  When she realized what she had said, she released the angry face and burst out laughing and so did we.  Well, the scolding was over by then.  We all got on her nerves that day (I’m laughing as I’m sitting here thinking about it and typing).  She made sure my sister and I had whatever doll or doll house we wanted, cookware oven, or roller skates we wanted and the boys had all the army men toys, matchbox cars, basketball, football and whatever fixer-upper—electrical repair kits my brothers asked for.  As a little girl I would run all over the yard and pulled up all the dandelions out of the grass (not knowing they were weeds), put them in a bunch to give to her as flowers. Of course they withered and died quickly because I hid them in the closet the day before to surprise her on Mother’s Day—only to go back out and do it all over again.  She never said a word or complained-no disdain, because she knew my heart; only to say, “Thank you baby” and give me a hug.  Now I give her roses or tulips or a beautiful arrangement of flowers to express my thanks and love!

Her plight wasn't easy though—working two jobs to make ends meet, on welfare (back then it was called A.D.C. Aid for Dependent Children, but the street term was “Absent Daddy Club”) because our father was not around.  She cried tears of joy when we all graduated from high-school and some from college.  She cried tears of indifference when two of my older brothers went away to the military to come back home—then the Government tried to take them away and place them in the Persian Gulf War, but God said, “Not So!” and they didn't go.  She surely thanks God for his protection over us daily; from not being a statistic and succumbing to violence in the streets of Detroit; or from the violence of angry cops!  Surely Heaven and the host of Angels are applauding her for not giving up and throwing in the towel when she had all of us as she went through the cycles of life with each and every child: from the death of one (crib death at two months old), to the warfare and harsh blows of arguments and fights.  Sometimes she liked us and sometime not!  All five of us were no-saint-of-a-child either! We’d argue with her, disagreed with her, slammed doors, leave the home, held a grudge, pointing the finger when we didn't understand or was trying to make our voices be heard and all for what?  And she still would say, “I’m not giving up on y’all”!    One of her children went through Bone Cancer, another domestic violence, another, a heart attack, Viral Bacterial Disease, and food poisoning.  Some dealt with bitterness, un-forgiveness and anger, to say the least.  With a tenacious look on her face clutching her purse as though she had her “gloc” in there, my mother said, “No devil, you can’t have them!”  Oh boy, the challenges mother had faced!

My mom is getting older, all of her children are in our upper to late 40’s the eldest will be 50 this year.   She wears her life’s lines well-the wrinkles on her face are more pronounced along with the gray hairs, yeah, that’s because of the wisdom this matriarch has. She is looking more beautiful than ever, day by day.  I used to get upset because she wasn't moving as fast as she used too; didn't want to accept the fact that she’s getting older, life is continuing its ebb, its flow. I have to say this and see it as an upgrade and not a decline, as the dictionary states.  At times she has a lot of pep in her step and when she’s feeling ill her pep, it gets left!  My mom is still young, 66 as I write.  With more life and more Ideas she has and more love to give to her children.  She’s wearing her crown of life now here on this earth and I’m grateful.  I celebrate you.  I honor you.  I love you.  I cherish you. I thank you!

I dedicate this letter to you, Priscilla Embry, daughter of Willie and Florence Mae Jenkins and truly, Daughter of the Most High God.  Mom, your pulpit was your home and your voice is truly heard with your built in mega phone; yelling out all of your children’s names to arrest us when we go astray, to cheer us on when we are doing well from day to day!  You didn't ask for riches or fame, all you asked God for was to keep us and guide us and that we would love each other.  God has and still is answering your prayers mom.  Your quiver was full and out of us all came grand-children and great-grand children, (I guess this does make you very rich-a couple of 'grands' isn't so bad after all). One is married and the others are not, however, waiting for prayers to be answered and I know that time is coming very soon and we all will rejoice and shout! Mom, your fame is going throughout the Heaven's, more vast than the world could see and your family shall call you blessed, now this is fame at its best! You deserve this Mother’s day Acknowledgement, not only on this day but every day.

On this day, Sunday, May 10, 2015 I Honor you and Celebrate you!  You truly are a Woman With A Mandate!

Love you-Your Daughter,
Claudette Embry

Agape' A Love Feast

Agape' A Love Feast is a poem I written some years ago, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Over the years I wondered when my piece would be displayed, because I had known that the Spirit of the Lord wasn't just talking to me, but that He was talking to others as well.

While attending a writer's workshop at my home church, I released this poem and had it published in a book titled "Potpourri, Passion, and Praise-Words from Detroit World Outreach", a collection of poems, testimonies, short stories and plays; published by Manifold Grace Publishing House. Allow the whispering of the Holy Spirit to speak and fill your heart with Love!     Embrace!

You sent the food to my plate
All I had to do was give up the hate.
Agape’—A Love Feast!

I searched and searched all my life long
You opened wide your love,
Your presence so strong.
Agape’—A Love Feast!

You broke the bread and gave of your cup
You made sure I was fed
And now, you say, “Sup”.
Agape’—A Love Feast!

With outstretched arms and the joy of company,
Your love is so charmed. Humph!
While you’ve been setting me free!
Agape’—A Love Feast!

With thanksgiving and praise, I lift my hands to you,
I walk through this maze as you command me to do!
Agape’—A Love Feast!

Judgment was not your thought
And harm was not your pleasure,
As you whisper ever so softly saying, “I Love You!”
And gave me all life’s treasures.
Agape’—A Love Feast!

Some may despise and some may ignore,
But, you’re taking good care of me and that I adore!
For you said, “Get in your prayer closet and shut the door,
‘Cause I’m filling you up so you can give to the poor.”

Oh! Your effervescence, your guiding light,
Your subtleness and the quiet-still…
Your rebuke and reprove
Has caused me to heal!

No! Money can’t buy and Riches can’t have,
Trickery is fodder and I wondered,
Why did you laugh?

This God-kind-of-Love
Is given throughout,
For on that tree Lord,
You hung with no doubt.

This God-kind-of-Love
I want to savor and taste,
As I sup from your cup
I shall eat off your plate!
Agape’—A Love Feast!

Enlarge My Territory

It's been a while since I've been on my blog-and let me start out by saying, "Merry Christmas" to all and a "Happy New Year"!  Well, where should I start: Family is doing well and growing in the Lord, He's changing lives, one soul at a time.  My brother and his ex-wife are back together, (he's more happier and calmer now). My sister has had some health challenges, but is fairing well.  Mom is more settled and she still worries about her children, or shall I say that she prays more!  Oh, and my ministry and sewing business has truly increased!  When "Jabez" prayed and asked the Lord to enlarge his territory, his prayer had gotten answered.  2013 will be an even busier one for me, especially in the area of weddings, Weddings, and more WEDDINGS! I thank the Lord for allowing me to cause someone else's special day a success. Praise God!  I truly must balance my time with ministry-prayer and some speaking engagements as well as making clothes for people: staying focused is key, and getting priorities in order is a must, and might I add, spending less time on the phone and hanging out with associates will eventually come to a slow down, if not a halt. These are just some of the things that I wanted to share, and yes, there's more, but I must stop.  As my bishop would say, "That's enough revelation for now"!

Prayer of Jabez:

"Oh, that You would bless me and enlarge my border,
and that Your hand might be with me, and You would keep me
from evil so it might not hurt me!"
     And God granted his request.

Be Still And Know that God Loves You

I've been out for a while-taking care of business; life was challenging me and me, rising above the challenge and conquering some goals and just some things that wasn't a goal but became one anyway.  I had learned to master some things before it mastered me!

Today, I decided to take a few moments to sit and write some of my thoughts on this blog.  As I gather my thoughts together I'm listening to a worship CD by Shikinah Glory, "Live": quietly with no television on, no phone calls (turned the ringer off), just listening to what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to me for today.

The Lord started speaking to me about some things that I need to address, get busy on, and continue to "plow" with prayer.  Remaining focus is the key to not getting sidetracked or off the path to your destiny; for that matter, even for what you have allocated to do for that day!  You know, I tweeted about this breifly: When was the last time you turned the tv off and gotten quiet?  When was the last time you picked up your bible and read that verse and meditated on that scripture?  Is it that too much silence disturbs you?  Maybe the Lord wants you to just stop talking and arguing, and "gotta give my opinion", and just be quiet (or as our parents would say, "Shut up and listen")!  He's trying to instruct you about your child.  He wants to give you advice about your business.  The Lord cares about what you care about and just want to let you know it--He's got the situation under control!  He even wants to counsel you about your marriage.  Will you take time to listen to Him and hear what He has to say to you about your circumstance/situation?

Let the Peace of God be your Blanket today!
Let the Love of God be your Covering today!
Let the Counsel of God be your Comforter today!
Let the Messiah, be your BFF today!

So, what am I saying?  Just get quiet, be still, stop talking and allow the Holy Spirit of God to speak to you today.  He only wants what's best, great, grand, tremendous, awesome for you, to you, through you, and because of you!

I'm reminded of the show, "Touch by an Angel" and the words that come to mind is, "God Loves You!"
He really does.

God Loves You!
